He Could Be Cranky But He Was My Neighbor
This is perhaps my favorite, as it is a bitter-sweet story of a New York City relationship between neighbors. The bitter is one of the neighbors was recently killed as their building burned in a fire. The sweetness is generated by the survivor, Michelle Walker, who cared for her third floor friend, as well as his cat. It captured the sense of connection people forge that really are enduring, a truth that both can and can't be tracked.
